The New York Times continues to lead Western media in publishing Israeli propaganda as news reporting. “Miscalculation Led to Escalation in Clash Between Israel and Iran.” Israeli officials say they didn’t see a strike on a high-level Iranian target in Syria as a provocation, and did not give Washington a heads-up about it until right before it happened. www.nytimes.com/2024/04/17/world/middleeast/iran-israel-attack.html

The New York Times LIES by omission in failing to report that the strike targeted the Iranian Embassy in Syria’s capital -- instead reporting a “high-level Iranian target.”

Israel strike on Iranian Embassy: A grave threat to global diplomatic laws.

In stark violation of international law, Israel has initiated an assault on the Iranian embassy in Syria. The ramifications of this act are profound, not only politically but also legally. This attack blatantly contravenes established norms of diplomatic immunity, a principle that has been a cornerstone of international law for centuries.  By undertaking this aggressive action, the Israeli leadership has demonstrated a blatant disregard for these global legal standards.

The assault by Israel on the Iranian embassy in Syria represents more than a mere violation of international statutes; it strikes at the core of established diplomatic practices and the bedrock of global cooperation, significantly weakening the structure of international law itself. Such a reckless move calls for immediate and unequivocal denunciation, given its potential to destabilise the foundational tenets underlying global diplomacy.  https://researchcentre.trtworld.com/perspectives/israel-strike-on-iranian-embassy-a-grave-threat-to-global-diplomatic-laws/

Why Israel-Iran War Is a Lifeline for Netanyahu. An isolated leader who faced widespread criticism a week ago now has the backing of the West and has deflected global attention from Gaza.

Just days ago, much of the world’s attention was on the impending famine in Gaza, and on Israel’s failure to achieve its war objectives of toppling Hamas and returning hostages more than six months into the war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was under pressure from U.S. President Joe Biden to allow in sufficient humanitarian aid and reach a cease-fire, as well as appeals from Israeli protesters to seal a hostage deal and hold new elections. But at night on Saturday, April 13, all that faded instantly as Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel in much-anticipated retaliation for an Israeli strike that killed senior Iranian military officers in the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, Syria.

This shift comes just days after the world watched as an Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy in Gaza killed seven aid workers, for which Israel has still given no good explanation. Prior to the attack from Iran, the United States’ unconditional support for Israel had looked like it might start to crack. https://foreignpolicy.com/2024/04/15/israel-iran-war-netanyahu-gaza-lifeline-isolation/

So really NYT?! A “Miscalculation” by Israel?!  WTF!?  Apparently Times reporters are so stupefied by the Times’ allegiance to Israeli propaganda that their journalist brains are on autopilot.  Faced with growing international alarm about Israel’s conduct in Gaza and with Biden’s demand for increased humanitarian aid, Netanyahu arrived at the perfect strategy to change the subject and neutralize criticism and isolation.

Israel Escalation With Iran Trying to Drag U.S. Into War https://theintercept.com/2024/04/14/israel-iran-drag-us-war-netanyahu-biden/

Israel’s strike represents a severe violation of international and diplomatic agreements and norms. Israel shows itself as a nuclear-armed rogue state of the worst kind — willing to endanger millions of lives across the Middle East to continue its genocidal campaign to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip and render it inhabitable.

Iran is acting more rationally than Israel — for now. Had Iran wanted to seriously escalate its conflict with Israel, its response to the Damascus embassy bombing would have looked very different.  https://www.972mag.com/iran-israel-rational-attack-embassy/

Western leaders and western media react by attacking Iran and calling for increased sanctions. One would need to read almost to the end of NYT article to learn that Iran was carefully restrained with its retaliation that was coordinated with the US and designed for minimal damage. The US is responsible and accountable for Israel’s pariah state behaviors.  The US continues to ensure that Israel can behave with impunity, no matter how egregious the behavior – whether genocide or war crimes or rampant violations of international laws.

Nothing has changed for Palestinians living in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Israel continues apace with its feverish ever escalating campaign, unparalleled in its ferocity and cruelty, to kill, bomb, starve, destroy, disable, and ultimately eliminate the Palestinians.

Under Cover of War in Gaza, Assault on West Bank Intensifies: Palestinian Journalist Dalia Hatuqa.

Basically, in the West Bank, the fog of war has allowed Israel to perpetuate crimes at a very large scale not only throughout the West Bank, but including occupied East Jerusalem. And in the West Bank, we’ve got what a lot of even Israeli officials have admitted are pogroms that are going on by and being perpetrated by Israeli settlers, especially in villages around Nablus, for example, which are in the north, where there are many settlements surrounding villages. www.democracynow.org/2024/4/16/west_bank_update

Under Cover of Gaza War, Assault on West Bank Accelerates.

Settlers and soldiers displaced some 4,000 West Bank Palestinians in 2023, the highest number ever recorded. Families’ daily lives are choked by a maze of checkpoints, constant discrimination, raids, and arrests. They spend nights in fear of settlers, who have attacked isolated Palestinian homes, destroyed trees, stolen farms, and even killed.

Settler violence in the West Bank spiked after October 7, and has fluctuated in the early months of 2024. Many West Bankers say their situation is more dire than ever, and fear another wave of forced displacement. To Palestinians living in the West Bank, settler violence and military raids appear to have a clear goal: to remove them from their land and homes.

Displacement isn’t always the result of direct expulsion. In what activists have called the Hebron model, Israel appears to use segregation, settler violence, and other means—like high-tech surveillance—to induce Palestinians to leave their homes and land. Israel is propagating this model all over the West Bank. https://tcf.org/content/commentary/under-cover-of-gaza-war-assault-on-west-bank-accelerates/

Hundreds of thousands of people in Gaza are at the brink of famine—a human-made disaster with roots in Israel’s history of using food as a weapon.  https://www.nybooks.com/online/2024/03/30/the-road-to-famine-in-gaza/

‘Lavender’: The AI machine directing Israel’s bombing spree in Gaza.

The Israeli army has marked tens of thousands of Gazans as suspects for assassination, using an AI targeting system with little human oversight and a permissive policy for casualtieshttps://www.972mag.com/lavender-ai-israeli-army-gaza/

Israel using Meta’s WhatsApp to kill Palestinians in Gaza through AI system.

Earlier this month, reports (+972 Magazine) revealed that Israel is using an artificial intelligence-aided system called ‘Lavender’ to identify suspected militants in the Gaza Strip before targeting and striking them, processing as many as 37,000 Palestinians within that scope.  Rather than just acting as a simple targeting mechanism, the system has a deliberate high civilian casualty rate, with Israeli military and intelligence sources admitting that they strike targets even when they are present in their homes with their entire families. As one source said at the time, the occupation forces “bombed them in homes without hesitation, as a first option. It’s much easier to bomb a family’s home. The system is built to look for them in these situations.”

No Tech for Apartheid: Google Workers Arrested for Protesting Company’s $1.2B Contract with Israel

Organized by the group No Tech for Apartheid, the protesters are demanding Google withdraw from Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion contract to provide cloud computing services to the Israeli military. “Google execs basically chose to arrest workers for speaking out against the use of our technology to power the first AI-powered genocide.”

Operation al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 194: Palestinians mark ‘Prisoners’ Day’ with more than 9,500 in Israeli jails.

On Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, rights groups report at least 5,000 Palestinians have been detained from Gaza since October 7, and at least 16 Palestinians have died in Israeli detention amid unprecedentedly inhumane conditions. https://mondoweiss.net/2024/04/operation-al-aqsa-flood-day-194-palestinians-mark-prisoners-day-with-more-than-9500-in-israeli-jails/

In Gaza, accounting for thousands missing under the rubble, Israel has killed around 48,000 Palestinians – 75% of whom are women and children; at least 78,000 Palestinians are wounded. These numbers represent respectively 2% and 4% of 2.3M Palestinians living in Gaza.

Comparable figures for Israel (9.85M) are 197,000 dead and 394,000 wounded.

Comparable figures for US (334.5M) are 6,690,000 dead and 13,380,000 wounded.

Yeah, consider carefully these numbers -- we/US are complicit and responsible.
