September 7th 2024    1325 Days Since Inauguration of First Woman Vice-President
59 Days Until 2024 Presidential Elections 11/5/2024

806 Days Since SCOTUS Ruled American Women Don’t Have Human Rights
337 Days Since Israel Began Genocidal Assault on Palestinians in Gaza

Israel and Iran are long-standing hostile rivals in the Middle East. Since Israel began its campaign of genocide in Gaza (now being extended to the West Bank), Netanyahu’s armed belligerence toward Iran has intentionally created the catalytic conditions for war between Israel/US and Iran.

Israel and Israel Alone Kicked Off This Escalation — In a Bid to Drag U.S. Into War With Iran. Netanyahu’s recklessness was fostered by blind U.S. support, but Israel is the one pushing its war with Iran out of the shadows.  https://theintercept.com/2024/04/14/israel-iran-drag-us-war-netanyahu-biden/

Why Israel-Iran War Is a Lifeline for Netanyahu. An isolated leader who faced widespread criticism a week ago now has the backing of the West and has deflected global attention from Gaza. https://foreignpolicy.com/2024/04/15/israel-iran-war-netanyahu-gaza-lifeline-isolation/

Netanyahu now demands, as a new condition for a ceasefire agreement, that Israel keep military control of the 8.5 mile border between Gaza and Egypt, known as the Philadelphi Corridor.  Israel and Egypt established a peace treaty with 1979 Camp David Accords that included a stipulation that the Philadelphi Corridor be a demilitarized zone under the control of Egypt.  Despite Egypt’s position that this new demand threatens the peace treaty, Netanyahu declares that the axis-of-evil Iran needs the Corridor to funnel arms to Hamas.

What is the Philadelphi corridor, and why is it so important to Israel? Netanyahu has made control of the strip between Gaza and Egypt a condition in ceasefire negotiations. www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/sep/03/what-is-the-philadelphi-corridor-israel-gaza-egypt-netanyahu

Why’s Netanyahu so insistent that Israel control the Gaza-Egypt crossing? |Al Jazeera | 5 September 2024  On Monday, Netanyahu doubled down: “The axis of evil needs the Philadelphi Corridor, and for that reason, we must control it. www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/5/why-is-netanyahu-so-insistent-on-israel-staying-in-philadelphi-corridor

In apparent swipe at hostage deal protests, PM says Hamas aiming to sow discord | Lazar Berman |Times of Israel | 8 September 2024

“We are surrounded by a murderous ideology led by Iran’s axis of evil,” says Netanyahu as he sent his condolences to the families of the three Israelis killed in a shooting terror attack at the Allenby Bridge Crossing between the West Bank and Jordan.

Netanyahu knows very well that calling out the so-called axis-of-evil-member Iran preserves and gains iron-clad support from hawkish members of Congress on both sides of the aisle. In his January 2002 State of the Union address, President George W Bush described Iran, Iraq and North Korea as an axis of evil and wielded this phrase to declare the US war on terror.  Twenty-two years later this trope remains a cornerstone of US foreign policy. The pivotal historical context for Netanyahu’s axis-of-evil stratagem involves the more than 70 years of US foreign policy adventurism in Iran.

How the CIA Overthrew Iran’s Democracy in Four Days | NPR | January 31, 2019

On August 19th 1953, the CIA and MI6 successfully engineered a coup overthrowing the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mossadegh. Mohammad Mossadegh was a beloved figure in Iran. Elected in 1951, Mossadegh introduced a range of social and economic policies beneficial to Iranians, including the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry that had been controlled by Great Britain for decades.  The US responded to Britain’s request to overthrow Mossadegh and forever changed its relationship with Iran.   www.npr.org/2019/01/31/690363402/how-the-cia-overthrew-irans-democracy-in-four-days

Iran and Iraq Fought a War for 8 Years, Killed Millions and Achieved Nothing.

The scale of the Iran–Iraq War was dizzying: eight years of World War II–style armor, artillery, and infantry battles accentuated by chemical weapons attacks, burning cities, and blazing oil tankers. The casualties from this war are estimated at anywhere between one million and two million.  https://www.historynet.com/the-iran-iraq-war-a-bloody-stalemate/

Currently, the US has at least 30 military facilities and at least 30,000 military personnel in the Middle East.
