In 1947 and 1948, Zionist militias and Israeli soldiers rampaged across Palestine destroying hundreds of villages, conducting brutal massacres, and carrying out vicious attacks on Palestinians. This campaign of ethnic cleansing saw approximately 800,000 Palestinians expelled from their homes, over 530 Palestinian communities demolished, over 15,000 Palestinians killed in a series of mass atrocities. Israel acknowledged that this barbaric and savage behavior was designed to frighten Palestinians into believing they could never challenge Israel’s theft of their homeland. For more than 75 years, Israel’s national purpose has never wavered: all of Palestine belongs to Israeli Jews and no Palestinians nor any non-Jews can remain in Israel’s Palestine except as segregated second-class citizens.
Israel is now about to annex the West Bank and eliminate the Gaza Strip courtesy of the US/Biden administration as well as the incoming administration.
Is this Israel’s first apartheid war? | Oren Yiftachel | October 15, 2024 | +972 Magazine. Far from lacking a political strategy, Israel is fighting to reinforce the supremacist project it has built for decades between the river and the sea.
A clear-eyed analysis of the past year shows that Israel continues to promote an unmistakable strategic goal in this war: maintaining and deepening the regime of Jewish supremacy over Palestinians between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. In this sense, the past 12 months might be best understood as Israel’s “first apartheid war.”
While its eight previous wars attempted to create new geographical and political orders or were limited to specific regions, the current one seeks to reinforce the supremacist political project Israel has built throughout the entire land, and which the October 7 assault fundamentally challenged. Accordingly, there is also a steadfast refusal to explore any path to reconciliation or even a ceasefire with the Palestinians.
Israel’s supremacist order, which was once termed “creeping” and more recently “deepening apartheid,” has long historical roots. It has been concealed in recent decades by the so-called peace process, promises of a “temporary occupation,” and claims that Israel has “no partner” to negotiate with. But the reality of the apartheid project has become increasingly conspicuous in recent years, especially under Netanyahu’s leadership.
Today, Israel makes no effort to hide its supremacist aims. The Jewish Nation-State Law of 2018 declared that “the right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people,” and that “the state views the development of Jewish settlement as a national value.” Taking this a step further, the current Israeli government’s manifesto (known as its “guiding principles”) proudly stated in 2022 that “the Jewish people have an exclusive and inalienable right to all areas of the Land of Israel” — which, in the Hebrew lexicon, includes Gaza and the West Bank — and promises to “promote and develop settlement in all parts of the Land of Israel.”
This July, the Knesset voted by an overwhelming majority to reject the establishment of a Palestinian state. And when Netanyahu speaks at the UN, as he did two weeks ago, the maps he shows clearly depict this vision: a Jewish state between the river and the sea, with Palestinians doomed to exist on the invisible margins of Jewish sovereignty as second- or third-class residents. https://www.972mag.com/apartheid-war-october-7/

“Trying to Repeat the Nakba”: Israel Launches Largest Military Raids in West Bank in Two Decades. August 28, 2024 Democracy Now! Mustafa Barghouti discussing Israel’s intensifying military assaults on the West Bank:
But what’s happening is absolutely horrifying, because what we see here is Israel trying to transfer the genocide war that is conducted in Gaza and the war of ethnic cleansing from Gaza to the West Bank. And what we see here is a unilateral war from the side of a huge Israeli army, which has airplanes, which has tanks, which has huge number of soldiers, against a basically civilian Palestinian population.
You have to understand that the West Bank is an area that has been under Israeli military occupation continuously since 1967, so it’s an occupied territory. And now the Israeli army, which is occupying us all this time, is conducting a war on occupied people. It’s the worst and gravest possible violation of international law that governs the behavior of an occupying power.
And their goal is very clear. It’s as the Israeli minister of foreign affairs said. It’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. This is a fascist Israeli government governed by fascists, like Netanyahu, Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, whose goal and aim is to annex the West Bank, is to settle Israeli illegal settlers in Palestinian territory and displace the Palestinian population. They are trying to repeat the Nakba. They are trying to repeat the ethnic cleansing that took place in 1948.
And this time, the Israeli army is invading not only Jenin and Tulkarm and Nur Shams camp and Tubas and Faraa camp; they are invading in so many areas in the West Bank. So many villages tonight were attacked and continue to be attacked. Hundreds of people have been arrested in this campaign. And the worst thing is that the Israeli army and bulldozers are destroying the infrastructure in many refugee camps, especially Nur Shams camp and Jenin camp. They are destroying roads. They are destroying power infrastructure. They are destroying water pipelines. They are destroying homes. And there is no limit to what they are doing. And at the same time, the world is watching and doing nothing.
It’s an absolute, absolute, unacceptable, horrible war crime that the Israeli army is conducting once again inside the West Bank. And I repeat: They are trying to repeat the same ethnic cleansing, the same genocide that is committed in Gaza, where, by the way, the war crimes continue. And every day, the Israeli army is killing 40 or 50 Palestinians — most of them, of course, are civilians. www.democracynow.org/2024/8/28/west_bank_raids_mustafa_barghouti
