February 8th 2025
Day 20 White Supremacist Misogynist Christian Nationalist Regime

960 Days Since SCOTUS Ruled American Women Don’t Have Human Rights
491 Days Since Israel Began Genocidal Assault on Palestinians in Gaza

The predictable settler colonial collaboration emerges between Netanyahu, the war criminal, and Trump, the real estate crook and aspiring authoritarian narcissist, with annexing the West Bank already approved.  The opportunity for this imperial execution of manifest destiny is enabled by the Biden Administration’s disdaining and dismantling of international institutions charged with enforcing international humanitarian law and preventing genocide and other war crimes.

Do rebuff accusations and finger pointing that fault lies with people who didn’t vote for Harris. If Harris had been elected, Israel would likely still be destroying Gaza.  Bipartisan support for the US arming and enabling Israel’s genocide is strong in both houses of Congress.  The US founding fathers embraced manifest destiny as the cornerstone of the new nation’s expansionist domestic and foreign policy.

Trump’s Plan: Ethnic cleansing as fascist ambition Trump’s call to ethnically cleanse Gaza is an affirmation of an ascendant global movement, with Israel in the vanguard, seeking to overturn long-standing international norms. Palestinian ties to the land stand in direct resistance to this project. | Mondoweiss | 6 February 2025.

The “humanitarian” logic of ethnic cleansing, the sanitization of crimes, and the transactional callousness — so bluntly articulated in Trump’s words — are all part of the same hubris that has long defined, and continues to define, American imperialism, just as British imperialism before it, when it comes to Palestine.

In fact, the same language has been used before. In 1830, President Andrew Jackson justified the Indian Removal Act as a necessary measure for the “happiness” of Native Americans, ethnically cleansing them under the guise of protecting their way of life. In 1947, British officials, as they prepared to withdraw from India, spoke of the partition as an inevitable “solution” to sectarian strife, framing the displacement of millions as an administrative necessity rather than an orchestrated upheaval. Even in Palestine, before 1948, British colonial officials like Sir Edward Grigg spoke of Jewish immigration as a means of “developing” the land, dismissing Palestinian presence as an obstacle to modernity. The logic remains unchanged — displacement framed as pragmatism, ethnic cleansing cloaked in the language of order and progress, and for Trump: Palestinians as an obstacle to a beautiful beachfront where everyone could live, including “some Palestinians.” https://mondoweiss.net/2025/02/trumps-plan-ethnic-cleansing-as-fascist-ambition/

The most asymmetric of conflicts: Why the fight for Palestine is ours. To stand with Palestine is to stand against the machinery of oppression, to reject the structures that perpetuate imperialism and domination, and to affirm the sacred values of humanity itself.

| Middle East Eye | 27 January 2025.

Last week, US President Donald Trump returned to the Capitol as president, his ascent staged as a spectacle of defiance and power. Draped in theatrics and bombast, Trump spoke of a renewed American "manifest destiny". This time, the promise extended beyond Earth to the stars. Colonising Mars, he declared, was the next great chapter in America’s mythology of conquest.

Yet, his ambitions for expansion had already revealed themselves on Earth. He floated the idea of purchasing Greenland, mused about annexing Canada, and invoked the Panama Canal as a symbol of US dominance. Whether aimed at land, trade routes, or planets, Trump’s imperialist vision reflects a fixation on control, cloaked in the language of exceptionalism.

Beneath the polished bravado and lofty proclamations lay the shadow of history. Manifest destiny is a doctrine written in blood. It justified the genocide of millions of Native Americans, the theft of their lands, and the obliteration of their cultures. It cloaked destruction as progress, a weapon of empire masquerading as inevitability. And now, Trump seeks to resurrect that same ethos, updated for the modern age and aimed not just at the stars, but at every frontier he deems ripe for domination.  In Trump’s universe, Palestinians do not exist. Their lives are erased by the same logic of manifest destiny that dehumanises those deemed expendable

For this is not simply a struggle for one nation; it is a battle for the soul of humanity. It pits ordinary men and women against a powerful, unyielding global elite, a clash between the forces of dignity, justice, and freedom on one side, and supremacy, inequality, and colonialism on the other. At the heart of this struggle lies Palestine - a symbol of resistance, of defiance, of the universal fight for liberation.  www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/Palestine-not-simply-struggle-one-nation-freedom-battle-for-all-humanity

The Gaza 'war' was a lie, as is the ceasefire. Trump just told you. During Netanyahu’s visit, Trump dropped Washington’s sugar coating of Israel’s 15-month genocidal destruction of Gaza. This was always about ethnic cleansing. | Middle East Eye | 6 February 2025.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House this week tore the mask off 16 months of gaslighting by western leaders and by the entirety of the western establishment media. President Donald Trump finally dropped Washington’s sugar coating of Israel’s genocidal destruction of Gaza.  This was always, he told us, a slaughter made in the US. In his words, Washington will now "take over" Gaza and be the one to develop it.  And the goal of the slaughter was always ethnic cleansing. Palestinians, he said, would be "settled" in a place where they would not have to be "worried about dying every day" - that is, being murdered by Israel using US-supplied bombs. www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/gaza-war-lie-ceasefire-trump-just-told-you

Coming soon: Trump plan for Israeli annexation of the West Bank – Lost in the uproar over Donald Trump’s Gaza comments was another bombshell: the White House will soon announce its position on annexation of the West Bank. Signs indicate it will fully support expanding Israeli control over the occupied territory. | Mondoweiss | 5 February 2025.

In response to a reporter’s question about a potential Israeli annexation of the West Bank, Trump said that he would be making a decision on the issue soon. “People do like the idea, but we haven’t taken a position on it yet,” said Trump. “We’ll be making an announcement probably on that very specific topic over the next four weeks.” mondoweiss.net/2025/02/coming-soon-trump-plan-for-israeli-annexation-of-the-west-bank/

Curfews, demolitions and airstrikes: Israel expands West Bank offensive to Tulkarem, Jordan Valley.  Palestinians say life has been "paralyzed" as Israel expands its military operations to Tulkarem and the northern Jordan Valley. Ground troops have been deployed, imposing curfews and carrying out home demolitions, forcibly displacing thousands. | Mondoweiss | 4 February 2025.  https://mondoweiss.net/2025/02/curfews-demolitions-and-airstrikes-israel-expands-west-bank-offensive-to-tulkarem-jordan-valley/

For decades, Israel has developed high tech tools for surveillance and killing, collaborating with US tech companies and trying out new weapons on the 2M Palestinians trapped/caged in Gaza.  Microsoft is among the major tech companies currying favor with Trump.

Revealed: Microsoft deepened ties with Israeli military to provide tech support during Gaza war.  Leaked documents shed light on how Israel integrated the US tech giant into its war effort to meet growing demand for cloud and AI. | The Guardian | 23 January 2025.

The investigation, which also draws on interviews with sources from across Israel’s defence and intelligence establishment, sheds new light on how the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) turned to major US tech companies to meet the technological demands of war.

After launching its offensive in Gaza in October 2023, the IDF faced a sudden rush in demand for storage and computing power, leading it to swiftly expand its computing infrastructure and embrace what one commander described as “the wonderful world of cloud providers”.

January 2024, OpenAI quietly deleted its own restrictions against the use of its services for “military and warfare” activities as part of a comprehensive rewrite of its policies. At around this time, files suggest, the Israeli military’s consumption of the Azure OpenAI suite of products began to spike. It was not clear how the military used OpenAI’s models or whether they played any role in supporting combat or intelligence activities.

Approached for comment, OpenAI did not respond to questions about its knowledge of how the Israeli military uses its products. A spokesperson for OpenAI said: “OpenAI does not have a partnership with the IDF.” They referred to OpenAI’s updated usage policy, which forbade its products being used to “develop or use weapons, injure others or destroy property”.   In May 2024, however, Microsoft began to publicise the ways in which the integration of OpenAI’s tools on its Azure platform presented a “paradigm shift” for defence and intelligence organisations, offering to “augment human capabilities” and achieve “greater speed, accuracy, and efficiency.” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jan/23/israeli-military-gaza-war-microsoft

More reporting about the scope of Israel’s rampaging destruction in Gaza reveals the vicious and deadly intentionality of Israel’s scorched earth policy.

Bomb the area, gas the tunnels: Israel’s unbridled war on Gaza’s underground.

Unable to pinpoint Hamas commanders in Gaza’s tunnels, the Israeli army decimated entire residential blocks with bunker-buster bombs to crush the passages below and flood them with lethal fumes, an investigation reveals.  | +972 Magazine | 6 February 2025.

When targeting senior commanders in the group, the Israeli military authorized the killing of “triple-digit numbers” of Palestinian civilians as “collateral damage,” and maintained close real-time coordination with U.S. officials regarding the expected casualty figures.

Some of these strikes, which were the deadliest in the war and often used American bombs, are known to have killed Israeli hostages despite concerns raised ahead of time by military officers. Moreover, the lack of precise intelligence meant that in at least three major strikes, the army dropped several 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs that killed scores of civilians — part of a strategy known as “tiling” — without succeeding in killing the intended target. https://www.972mag.com/tunnels-hamas-lethal-gas-bombs-gaza/

Gaza: We Analyzed a Year of Satellite Images to Map the Scale of Agricultural Destruction.  | Informed Consent | 8 February 2025.

Over the past 17 months we have analysed satellite images across the Gaza Strip to quantify the scale of agricultural destruction across the region. Our newly published research reveals not only the widespread extent of this destruction but also the potentially unprecedented pace at which it occurred.

Attacks on agricultural lands are prohibited under international law. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court from 1998 defines the intentional use of starvation of civilians through “depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival” as a war crime. The Geneva conventions further define such indispensable objects as “foodstuffs, agricultural areas for the production of foodstuffs, crops, livestock, drinking water installations and supplies and irrigation works”.   www.juancole.com/2025/02/satellite-agricultural-destruction.html

More reporting that confirms the Israeli army was probably responsible for one-half of Israeli deaths on October 7th 2023.  These updates serve as a reminder about the vicious and inflammatory lies spread by Israel to justify their genocidal assault on Gaza.

Army was ordered to kill Israelis on 7 October, defense minister confirms. | The Electronic Intifada | 7 February 2025.

Israeli troops were ordered to shoot and kill captive Israeli civilians on 7 October 2023, Israel’s then defense minister admitted this week. The order to carry out Israel’s so-called Hannibal Directive was issued “tactically” and “in various places” next to Gaza, Yoav Gallant told Israel’s Channel 12 on Thursday. “In other places it was not given, and that is a problem,” he continued.  Questioning Gallant, journalist Amit Segal clarified for viewers that “the Hannibal Directive says to shoot to kill when there is a vehicle containing an Israeli hostage” – a characterization Gallant did not contest.  Gallant was speaking in his first interview with Israeli television since being fired in November. https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/asa-winstanley/army-was-ordered-kill-israelis-7-october-defense-minister-confirms

The always nauseating pro-Israel propaganda embedded in reporting by the New York Times provides yet another appalling example. In an article titled Trump Digs In on Gaza Takeover and Palestinian Resettlement, this statement appears to describe Israel’s assault on Gaza:  A 15-month insurgency by Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas outlasted Israel’s offensive to emerge as the enclave’s de facto rulers, at least for now.
