378 Days Since Israel Began Genocidal Assault on Palestinians in Gaza
During the last two weeks, Israel is indiscriminately raining bombs on the Lebanese. Targeting hospitals, ambulances and health centers: targeting dense urban neighborhoods with 2000 lb. bunker busters; targeting municipal buildings and killing scores of local officials; targeting people ordered to flee on the roads; targeting medics and civil defense workers as they try to help the wounded; targeting schools and shelters. Military drones circle to terrorize 24/7. About 1.2M Lebanese are displaced including 400,000 children.
Does this unbridled and brutal terrorism sound familiar? Yes, the so-called “Gaza Playbook” – the carnage and genocide continuously wreaked on the Palestinians for more than a year. Actually, Israel has a name for this terrorism – the infamous Dahiya Doctrine.
Explainer: The Dahiya Doctrine & Israel’s Use of Disproportionate Force | Institute for Middle East Understanding | 31 July 2024.
The Dahiya Doctrine is an Israeli military doctrine that calls for the use of massive, disproportionate force and the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The doctrine is named after the Dahiya suburb of Beirut, where the Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah has its headquarters, which the Israeli military leveled during its assault on Lebanon in the summer of 2006 that killed nearly 1,000 civilians, about a third of them children, and caused enormous damage to the country’s civilian infrastructure, including power plants, sewage treatment plants, bridges, and port facilities.
It was formulated by then-General Gadi Eisenkot when he was Chief of Northern Command. As he explained in 2008 referring to a future war on Lebanon: "What happened in the Dahiya quarter of Beirut in 2006 will happen in every village from which Israel is fired on… We will apply disproportionate force on it (village) and cause great damage and destruction there. From our standpoint, these are not civilian villages, they are military bases. https://imeu.org/article/the-dahiya-doctrine-and-israels-use-of-disproportionate-force
International law expressly prohibits the use of disproportionate force and the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, which are war crimes. Nonetheless, since 1948, Israel has used disproportionate force with impunity, including dozens of massacres, and targeted Palestinian, and now Lebanese, civilians.
The Gaza Playbook”: Israel Brings Displacement, Death and Destruction to Lebanon | Democracy Now! | 17 October 2024. Journalist Rania Abouzeid reports from Beirut describing unrestrained attacks by Israel throughout the country, on all sectors of society, as Israel carries out its “Dahiya doctrine” in an attempt to foment division among the Lebanese population. Abouzeid says:
Well, the Dahiya doctrine was created, basically, after the 2006 war. And to put it very bluntly, the idea is that you cause so much pain to a community that you try and pry public support from the group, from the nonstate actor — in this case, Hezbollah. So, the idea is that you inflict so much pain on Hezbollah’s support base, on what is known here as the resistance community so it turns against the group. Israelis are not just targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and military targets. Hospitals that have been bombed closed their doors because of the threat of Israeli strikes. More than a hundred paramedics have been killed.
Netanyahu says “Unless people of Lebanon take the country back and free themselves from Hezbollah, Lebanon would be turned into Gaza.”
Hezbollah is an integral part of Lebanon’s social and political and military fabric. As a political party it has members of Parliament and ministers in this government. Hezbollah has a very vigorous and active social services arm that includes first responders. So, Netanyahu is essentially demanding a civil war in Lebanon. www.democracynow.org/2024/10/17/lebanon_israel_attacks
Israel’s latest variation on the Dahiya [Terrorism] Doctrine involves burning Palestinians alive. Israel deliberately dropping bombs on Al-Aqsa hospital with patients in beds placed outside and surrounded by displaced Gazans in tents, knowing families are cooking with gas or petrol, knowing their bombs will create an instant inferno to burn people alive.
Heart-shattering videos show Shaaban Al-Dalou struggling to escape the inferno, arms lifting with one still attached to an IV, trying to get out of his hospital bed. Biden, Harris, and their Zionist advisors should be forced to watch these soul-searing scenes again and again. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBFT3ezoX3S/; https://x.com/DropSiteNews/status/1845622848817127439; https://x.com/gazanotice/status/1845601494550093959/video/2
Shaaban had recently posted pictures and videos about his family’s hardships, his plans to study software engineering, and his dream to live in Germany. He was recovering from injuries he suffered when Israel bombed the mosque where he was praying. If you dare to get to know Shaaban a little, then multiple his life and death by 500,000.
Sha’ban al-Dalou burned alive before the world. May his death awaken us | Zak Witus | The Guardian | 17 October 2024.
I clicked on the accompanying video and I could not believe what I saw: an inferno blazing, people running around screaming, and there, amidst the flame, a body writhing, crackling; a raised arm, reaching out for help, still attached to an IV.
Shaaban Al-Dalou, Burned Alive in Gaza, Would Have Been 20 Today. | Drop Site News | Abubaker Abed | 16 October 2024.
Shaaban Al-Dalou would have turned 20 today—October 16—if an Israeli airstrike on his tent hadn’t burned him alive, along with his mother. Footage captured of his burning body has seared its way through the collective consciousness—an indelible image of the horrors Israel has wrought in Gaza. www.dropsitenews.com/p/life-of-shaaban-al-dalou-burned-gaza
“It Was Like Hell on Earth”: Scenes From a Night of Horror in Gaza | Mohammed R. Mhawish | The Nation| 16 October 2024.
What brought me to tears were the wails of people burning alive before they even registered the sounds of the attack. That night has left both the living and the dead destroyed beyond recognition….Inside what remained of the hospital courtyard, the charred ground bore silent testimony to the devastation. The tents were now little more than blackened cloth and twisted metal…The grief was compounded by the sheer inhumanity of peoples’ final moments. “It wasn’t just death,” Dr. Wazeer told me. “It was suffering—slow, excruciating suffering. That’s what haunts me.”www.thenation.com/article/world/gaza-al-aqsa-hospital-attack-fire/
By letter dated October 13th the Biden Administration informed Israel that, if Israel did not boost humanitarian aid access in Gaza within 30 days, then Israel risked having some US military assistance cut off. The letter noted the US has deep concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation, and pointed out that Israel denied or impeded nearly 90% of humanitarian movements between the north and south during the last month.
Israel is playing even more dirty to force people out of Jabalia | Motasem A Dalloul | Middle East Monitor | 17 October 2024.
The Israeli occupation forces are carrying out ground and air strikes and imposing a tight siege on Jabalia. The besieged Palestinian residents are being starved, while the remaining three hospitals have been ordered to evacuate patients and staff. The Israeli soldiers are shooting at ambulances and fleeing residents.
The Israeli intention is to evacuate all northern parts of the Gaza Strip and then annex the territory under the smokescreen of creating a military buffer zone.
Israel is continuing with its ethnic cleansing operations by killing civilians or forcing them out of their homes. Whole residential blocks are then being destroyed by the occupation army, sometimes over the heads of the residents who refuse to leave their homes. www.middleeastmonitor.com/20241017-israel-is-playing-even-more-dirty-to-force-people-out-of-jabalia/
US departments have reported that Israel is in violation of US law since April 2024. However, Biden says that Israel has another 30 days to change course on humanitarian aid. In the meantime, US weapons will continue to flow to Israel, and Israel will have time to complete its campaign of Palestinian extermination in North Gaza. The rank hypocrisy and gaslighting beggars belief.
