The specifics of the toll on women, reproductive care, and children are staggering.

When Gaza’s health ministry released a 1,516-page document listing the names of confirmed Palestinian deaths, the first 27 pages were comprised of names where the age was listed is 0: children under 1 year old. An average of 37 mothers have been killed each day. On March 19^th Israel violated the ceasefire deal begun on January 19^th 2025 by launching the deadliest day of bombing in months and killing more than 400 Palestinians. On March 2^nd, during ceasefire talks, Israel established a total blockade of all humanitarian aid getting into to Gaza effectively closing 400 aid distribution locations and displacing UN international humanitarian organization staff. The blockade has pushed most Palestinians to the brink of starvation.

By starvation and continuous bomb, missile and drone attacks, Israel is ruthlessly reengaged with its savage genocide of Palestinians. Yes, just when it seemed that the circumstances for Palestinians in Gaza couldn’t be any more horrific, leave it to Israel to create yet another opportunity to murder and maim Palestinians.  Reacting to public criticism of the aid blockade (apparently genocide by weapons is OK), Israel created Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) a faux non-profit that began food aid distribution in late May. GHF set up only 4 distribution sites for 2 million Palestinians, constructed like cattle pens and guarded by armed US mercenaries. 

The US is 100% complicit and responsible for this unspeakable brutality and suffering unleashed on Palestinians by a rogue, vicious, lawless and toxic Israel.

Israeli Soldiers Killed at Least 410 People at Food Aid Sites in Gaza This Month.

This constitutes “a likely war crime” that violates international standards on aid distribution, according to the United Nations. “Desperate, hungry people in Gaza continue to face the inhumane choice of either starving to death or risk being killed while trying to get food,” the U.N. human rights office said. Palestinian health authorities reported that Israel killed 44 people waiting for aid in separate incidents in southern and central Gaza just on Tuesday this week. Israeli soldiers have reportedly killed aid-seekers with bullets, tank shells, and drone-mounted weapons.

US Dr Mark Brauner describes “execution-style” killings of Palestinians at food distribution sites and the desperate lack of baby formula leading to the deaths of children suffering from malnutrition and starvation.  

“I met 3-year-old Hassan Barbakh suffering kidney and liver damage amid soaring blood-acid levels due to acute malnutrition -- he weighed less than half of what his normal body weight should be. He had a complicated metabolic disorder, but he really wasn’t dying from his complex medical disease, he was dying from the policy of not opening the borders and getting food in. He died as a direct result of that. And we actually – my three U.S. colleagues and I, when we met Hassan a few days ago, we looked at each other, and we said, “We’ve got to do something about this.”

Children Are Starving in Gaza, as Soldiers Kill People Looking for Food. Doctors trying to save starving children and parents trying to feed them. | The Intercept 19 June 2025.

 In Gaza’s clinics and overwhelmed hospitals, doctors and nutritionists face a haunting, daily reality: children wasting away before their eyes, unable to stand and play, who can hardly breathe. As the genocide on Gaza grinds on after Israel’s breaking of the ceasefire, doctors and mothers across the Strip describe an unfolding catastrophe: a severe and accelerating child malnutrition crisis that, left unchecked, could claim thousands of lives. 

Dr. Rana Zaiter is chief of clinical nutrition at Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat in the middle of the Gaza Strip, which has a specialized department to treat severe acute malnutrition in children under 5. She paints a bleak picture: “We are overwhelmed. Every day, we see more children arriving with extreme weight loss, anemia, and symptoms of immune deficiency. Children are too weak to fight infections. They have constant gastrointestinal illnesses, are lethargic, dizzy, and often can’t even play or stand. Some are developing bowed legs — a clear sign of rickets and calcium deficiency. Malnutrition affects more than the body. “Iron deficiency causes loss of appetite and long-term developmental delays.
